722 Tours - The Mille Miglia

*** VERY LIMITED AVAILABILITY *** - enquire now!
Note - following the announcement of the dates by the organisers of the Mille Miglia, we are revising our programme to fit with the new event timings.
The 'Mille Miglia' is one of the greatest classic car 'race' events in the world. Since it's reintroduction back in 1977 it has been a four day regularity race around Italy, starting and finishing in Brescia, taking in Rome and other historical Italian cities.
Why '722 tour'?
'722' refers to the start time allocated to the great Stirling Moss, paired with 'navigator' Dennis Jenkinson, in the 1955 Mille Miglia. Moss and 'Jenks', driving a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, went on to set the fastest time on the event. Their time of 10 hours, 7 minutes and 48 seconds was never beaten - the event lasted only 2 more years before it was stopped as an all out race.
The Mille Miglia now runs as a 4-day 'retrospective' with competitive elements based around matching set finishing times which penalise drivers for being early so as to negate the need for excessive speeds! A handicapping system also allows cars from the 1930's to compete for overall honours against much later machinery. 2017's victory was taken by Andrea Vesco and Andrea Guerini in their 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport Zagato beating off the challenge from a wide selection of cars, including the Mercedes-Benz 300SLR driven by Mercedes-AMG boss Toto Wolf.
The dates for the next edition (the 91st anniversary of the first Mille Miglia) are have now been confirmed as 16th to 19th May 2018.

Day Three - Wednesday - start of the Mille Miglia 2018
After breakfast, we set off to Fiera near the race start to soak up the atmosphere of the pre-race build up in the collecting area. As start time approaches we will take up position in Brescia town centre to see the cars pass by on leg one of their adventure. We have secured a prime viewing location and will enjoy a late lunch just a few metres away from the route as the 400+ classic cars pass by. In the early evening we depart to our next overnight stop in Modena. Dinner tonight is likely to be a light affair after our substantial, late, lunch.
Day Four - Thursday***
As the Mille Miglia cars head south we visit the Ferrari Museum in Maranello - a place of pilgrimage for many with oil running through their veins. Then comes one of the highlights of your trip, the chance to drive a Ferrari on the roads around the factory* followed by lunch in the legendary Cavallino restaurant. By way of contrast, the afternoon will see us visiting Lamborghini for a museum and factory tour on our way back to the hotel. Dinner tonight will be another superb affair (did we mention, no diets?).

Experience a guided tour at the Museo Ferrari in Maranello
Guests are able to get behind the wheel for a driving experience around the streets of Ferrari's home.
An afternoon visit to Lamborghini's modern museum and a factory tour are included.
Day Five - Friday***
As the race winds it's way back north you'll have the choice of a leisurely day of shopping/sight seeing in historical Bologna. Or, for the petrol-heads, we'll take in the Ducati museum (and factory tour, hopefully) and private Maserati collection. **Subject to route changes for 2018
Friday is a choice - Ducati and a private Maserati museum, or sightseeing/shopping
This stunning private collection features Maserati and a small selection of other cars.
Modern race cars feature too - along with an eclectic selection of motorbikes and memorabilia.
Day Six - Saturday***
We check out early and head back towards the historic centre of Brescia to catch the final leg of the Mille Miglia, passing through the pedestrian areas en-route to the finish. After a relaxing afternoon we'll transfer to our final hotel and get together one last time for a drinks reception and our farewell dinner.
Day Seven - Sunday
After breakfast, we’ll wave guests on their way to their airport of their choice at the end of the Mille Miglia 2018.
*** Following recent route updates we are revising our planned schedule - whilst all detailed tours/experiences will be included they may not necessarily be in the order shown, for logistical reasons. We are also aiming to include an additional night-time sighting of the cars.

What about flights?
Whilst we don't include flights, here's some advice on where to fly to for our Mille Miglia 6 night tour.
The closest airport to the start and end of our package is Orio al Serio, also known as Bergamo Airport or Milan Bergamo (code BGY). Ryanair operate flights from Stansted to Bergamo. Tranfers are around an hour.
Also consider Verona which is served by BA and EasyJet amongst other airlines. Again transfers are about an hour.
Next up is Milan Linate, which tends to be the more expensive option due to its close proximity to Milan itself. BA fly to Linate from London Heathrow. Transfers available at additional cost - and take around 1hr40.
Alternatively Milan Malpensa offers flights from Gatwick and Luton with EasyJet. Transfers available at additional cost - and again take around 1hr40.
Flights are available from as little as £45 per person, each way, according to Opodo.
Notes about the event
The final, detailed, route of the 2018 Mille Miglia has not yet been released. Until we receive the full routing we will not be finally confirming our hotels - although we have have our start and finish booked and have reserved the intermediate hotel. Nor will our viewing locations be confirmed until we have final sight of the full route.
We've been asked a number of times, so will suggest that you are physically able to walk about a mile at a reasonable pace. There are a number of locations that can be tricky to reach by luxury coach, so some walking is required. 2017's tour included one gentleman recovering from a leg break, who found the distances fairly easy-going.
Our included accommodation
Our accommodation for each night has now been largely finalised but we're keeping some details under wraps until we have confirmation of the final route! What you can be sure of is that it is a selection of fine hotels. Our first couple of nights (and the last one) are in a stunning lakeside 'Hotel Rivalago' at Sulzano. On the shores of Lake Iseo, this hotel is about 30 minutes from the centre of Brescia and perfect for the start (and end) of our tour.
If you wish to drive, we can arrange parking for your car during our tour.
Meals - what's included?
Dinner is included on each evening of the tour. In the main this will be at a traditional-style restaurant although a couple of meals will be in our hotels. Note that Thursday evening will be a lighter 'supper' following the lunch provided for us in Brescia
A couple of lunches are included - in Brescia on Thursday and at Maranello on Friday. All other lunches are at the clients' discretion. You will find that you are generally spoilt for choice!
We will be 'on site' throughout the event to ensure your needs are catered for throughout.
Included package transfers
All of our Mille Miglia experience clients will be looked after throughout with transfers by luxury vehicle once on the tour.
For airport transfers - we can arrange to meet your flight into Bergamo or Verona airports, included in the package price.
If you're flying into one of Milan's airports then let us know - but transfers to/from Milan will attract an additional fee of £100 per couple, per journey.
You can view (and download) our online e-brochure - just click here.
Brescia is a picturesque city, especially when viewed from the castle.
Our event includes a visit to the Ferrari Museum at Maranello.
We also pay a visit to Sant'Agata for the Lamborghini museum & factory tour.
